Biography:

Paul was born in Wellington and educated at Wanganui Collegiate School before graduating from the University of Otago in 1986.

From 1987 - 1991 Paul travelled extensively overseas, in particular throughout Europe, Africa and Asia before returning to New Zealand in 1991. At that time, Paul joined the predecessors of Avison Reid Lawyers as a staff solicitor.

Paul became a Partner of the firm in 1994, practising in all areas of family law, in addition to appearing in the Family Court as Senior Counsel for the Child and also within the Youth Court.
